Create custom fields

Need to track something that isn't a standard field, like a policy number, pet name or roof type? Create a custom field.

Create a contact field

1. Click Settings, then Custom Fields under Data.

2. Click Contact Field at the top of the page.

3. Enter a Label, the name people will see, for example "Roof Type".

4. Check the Field Key. It is filled in from the label; you rarely need to change it.

5. Choose a Field Type, such as Text, Number, Date or Select (Dropdown).

6. For dropdowns and radio buttons, type your Options. Press Enter or a comma after each one.

7. Turn on Required if this field must always be filled in.

8. Click Create Field.

Field types you can use

Text, Number, Date, Select (Dropdown), Boolean (Checkbox), URL, Email, Phone, Monetary, File Upload, Signature, Radio Buttons and Textbox List.

Opportunity fields

Want to track extra details on deals instead? Set the Scope to Opportunity when you create the field, or choose Opportunity Field from the more-actions menu next to Contact Field.

Tips

• Create custom fields before you import a CSV, so you can map columns to them.

• Use Move to Group to keep related fields together, for example all "Insurance" fields in one group.
