Import contacts from a CSV file

Moving from another system or a spreadsheet? Import all your contacts at once from a CSV file.

Before you start

• Save your spreadsheet as a .csv file. The file can be up to 10 MB.

• Put column names in the first row, such as First Name, Last Name, Email, Phone.

• If you want to import extra details, such as a membership number, create a custom field for it first.

Import your file

1. Click Contacts in the left menu.

2. Click Import at the top of the page. (Importing works on a computer, not on a phone.)

3. Upload: drop your CSV file on the box, or click to browse for it. Click Next.

4. Map: for each CSV Column, choose the matching Contact Field. Use -- Skip this column -- for anything you don't need. If you have one column with full names, choose Full Name (split into First + Last).

5. Optional: under Tag all imported contacts (optional), add a tag such as "Imported Oct 2026" so you can find this group later.

6. Under Duplicate Handling, choose what happens when a contact already exists. Then click Next.

7. Preview: check that the data looks right.

8. If duplicates are found, click Review Duplicates and choose Skip, Update or Create for each one.

9. Click Start Import. When you see Import complete, click Done.

Troubleshooting

• The Next button is greyed out. Map at least one column to a contact field.

• "The CSV file contained no valid data." Check the file has a header row and at least one row of data, and that it is saved as CSV, not as an Excel file.

• The Import button is greyed out. Your user role may not allow adding contacts. Ask your account admin.
