Send a text message

Before you start

To send texts, your account needs a phone number. See Get a business phone number. In the US, you also need A2P 10DLC registration so carriers don't block your texts.

Text one contact

1. Click Conversations in the left menu.

2. Open the contact's conversation, or click New Conversation, pick the contact and choose SMS as the channel.

3. Type your message in the box at the bottom.

4. Press Enter, or click Send.

You can also text from a contact's record: open the contact and use the conversation panel in the middle.

Text several contacts at once

1. Click Contacts in the left menu.

2. Tick the contacts you want to text.

3. Click the Send SMS icon at the top of the page.

4. Type your Message and send.

Message status

After you send a message, a small icon shows its status: a clock while it is sending, a tick once it is delivered, and an X if it failed.

Troubleshooting

• "Outside texting hours (9 AM - 8 PM recipient time)." Texts can only go out during the day in the contact's time zone. Schedule the message or send it later. See Texting hours and SMS rules.

• A message asks you to add a card on file. Your account needs a payment method before it can send texts. See View your plan and billing.

• "This contact is suppressed for SMS." The contact opted out. See Do Not Disturb and opt-outs.

• Texts show as failed. Check your A2P registration status. If it isn't approved, carriers may block your texts.
